Since 1971, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many excellent poets. These collaborations are intimate expressions, using the handwritten words of the poet to create even more intimacy. I’m committed to bringing poets and their words out from inside the covers of books, into the open. I think of my work like sunlight over a landscape on a cloudy day: my images are like the sun striking through to illuminate here one thing, there another. The land is like the poem, or fragment, always there setting the architecture of my images. They are made in small editions, no more than fifty, by a process of lithography for the words, and monotype, drawing, collage for each image, making each sheet’s image different, but related to the others. Each sheet is signed and numbered by the poet and myself.
